From Seat 1A: Tosca Ristorante, Washington, DC, United States
International lawyers travel… a lot. Our President, Antonio Valla, has the privilege of travelling the world representing our valued clients. Along the way he has enjoyed a variety of cuisines and restaurants from Michelin starred to street stalls. Clients and colleagues often ask him for recommendations, so we at V&A thought that this blog, From Seat 1A, would be an interesting and useful read. Buonappetito!
Smack in the heart of Washington, DC, a couple of blocks from the White House, you’ll find Ristorante Tosca. It has been a staple of DC’s power lunch scene since it first opened in the early 1990’s. Home to Senators, Representatives, and the occasional Supreme Court Justice, it remains my go-to comfort food source when I’m in DC. Rigorously Northern Italian cuisine, flawlessly executed by Chef Massimo Fabbri is complemented by Signor Giovanni and his front-of-the house team. Discreet, but ever-present at the slightest glance from your table, they simply bring heaven to your meal. The menu is varied and complex, with deep, bold flavors and outstanding presentation. Not to be missed the prosciutto crudo appetizer (thinly sliced, just as in Italy), the ravioli dal plin (best in class), and the gnocchi. The tortino al cioccolato makes for a perfect finish. The experience is complemented by a truly engaging wine list, including a solid selection of Barbaresco and Dolcetto. Not to be missed. Ristorante Tosca is at 1112 F Street N.W., Washington, DC 20004 www.toscadc.com (202) 367-1990.
